When you know your teeth look their best, you’re more likely to smile openly. The confidence you gain from knowing you have a bright, gleaming white smile will have an incredibly positive impact on both your personal and professional life, helping you make great first impressions and feel more comfortable in your skin. But if you are struggling with dull, discoloured teeth, where do you start?
Our teeth whitening specialists in Cowbridge are here to answer your questions, address any concerns, and put together a teeth whitening plan that will achieve the results you’re looking for.
Using quality products from well-known manufacturers, our experienced cosmetic dentists in South Wales can help you reverse years of staining and wear, leaving you with a smile that looks more youthful and vibrant. You’ll often see an improvement in the shade of your teeth after just a few days – and after a couple of weeks of daily treatments, the results will be outstanding.

First, our dentists will take scans of your teeth to produce your individual bleaching trays. These are designed to fit comfortably and securely over your teeth so that the bleaching agent does not leak onto the lips and gums, which could cause burns and irritation.
From there, we will supply you with the bleaching gels that will work to break down the stains on your teeth into smaller pieces, resulting in a lighter and more even shading on the surface. We will guide you on how to use the trays and gel, and how long to wear the trays for. This is typically for a few hours each day over a period of two or three weeks, but your teeth whitening schedule will be tailored specifically to your requirements.
No! Teeth whitening is essentially a pain-free procedure.
A few people do notice that their teeth are slightly sensitive for a few hours or days after their treatment, but this soon returns to normal. If you are concerned about any unusually high sensitivity, contact your dentist for advice.
The bleaching agent used in our teeth whitening treatments contains either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which are both considered safe when applied correctly. Overuse or incorrect application of these whitening products can cause sensitivity or damage to the enamel, so it’s important to follow our instructions at all times.
At your first appointment, we’ll discuss just how white you wish your new smile to be, then supply you with the appropriate strength bleaching gel to achieve your desired outcome.
At the end of this procedure, your teeth will be much whiter than before. However, we are aware that many patients prefer to avoid the brilliant white ‘celebrity’ smile – so if you’d rather keep things looking natural, let us know, and we will design your treatment plan accordingly. A shorter treatment period or weaker whitening solution can improve the whiteness of your smile in a less dramatic way, if you prefer.
Apart from the obvious cosmetic improvement, many people find that they feel more confident and able to smile and laugh more freely after they have completed their teeth whitening course.
As a treatment option, teeth whitening is relatively low cost compared to other procedures – and with proper maintenance and regular touch-ups, the effects of teeth whitening can be long-lasting, ensuring that you continue to enjoy your brilliant smile for years to come.
The results of teeth whitening can last from a few months to several years, depending on your oral hygiene, diet, and lifestyle habits. Regular touch-ups and avoiding staining substances can help maintain the results for longer.
When the whiteness does eventually begin to fade, you can easily have your whitening topped up with no detrimental effect to the health of your teeth. If you keep your bleaching trays safe and clean, the price of these top ups is minimal.
